Kingfisher Apartments

The small practical details make a cycling stay much easier.

Kingfisher gives cyclists the privacy of a self-catering apartment and a useful starting point between the coast and the climbs inland. Your bicycle can stay with you in the apartment, using the stand provided rather than being left in a communal area.

A maintenance work stand, basic tools and a protective mat can be made available for minor adjustments. We also keep a small selection of inner tubes, mineral oil and useful consumables on site. If you need a specific spare, ask us in advance: with enough notice, the cycling owner may be able to collect it from a trusted supplier along the coast, subject to stock and confirmation.

These five routes come from first-hand local riding. Kingfisher’s owner is an avid road cyclist with plenty of local knowledge, so if you would like something shorter, longer, flatter or more mountainous, just ask — more routes can be provided on request. Benalmádena has gentler coastal options, but the mountains rise quickly inland and make this an especially rewarding base for strong riders looking for sustained climbing. Open each interactive map to see the distance, elevation and full line of the ride before choosing your day.

Intermediate

Coín Loop

Leave the coast through Fuengirola and Mijas before turning inland towards Coín and the Sierra de Mijas foothills. Sea views at the beginning and end give way to orchards, white villages and open mountain scenery. At 69.8 km with 1,188 m of climbing, this is a strong intermediate ride for cyclists who are comfortable with sustained ascents and descents.

Fuengirola eBike Flats

An easy out-and-back along the coastal corridor to Fuengirola, with Mediterranean views and changing seafronts around Torrequebrada, Carvajal, Los Boliches and Fuengirola. The 26.2 km route gains only 179 m, making it the gentlest choice here; it was planned for an e-bike but is also an approachable shorter road ride.

Straight Up Leg Burner

Short on kilometres but very big on climbing, this route rises from the coast into the Sierra de Mijas slopes above Fuengirola. The reward is a succession of wide views over the town, Mediterranean and coastline. With 1,095 m of ascent in just 35.3 km, its steep ramps and technical descending make this an expert ride.

Monda Loop

A long mountain loop through the Mijas countryside towards Coín and Monda, linking the landscapes of the Sierra de Mijas and Sierra de las Nieves. Look out for white-village streets, orchards, olive-covered hills and expansive mountain panoramas. The combination of 90.4 km and 1,464 m of climbing makes this an expert day requiring confident pacing, descending and fuelling.

Nerja Flats

A memorable eastbound endurance ride tracing Málaga Bay and the Axarquía coast to Nerja and back. The route passes the seafronts of Torremolinos and Málaga before continuing through Rincón de la Victoria and Torre del Mar towards the cliffs and mountains around Nerja. Elevation is moderate at 529 m, but the 148 km distance makes this an intermediate-to-expert endurance challenge.
