On Monday 2 August 2027, the path of totality will sweep from the Atlantic across the Strait of Gibraltar, southern Spain and North Africa. Benalmádena sits inside that narrow path, turning an ordinary Costa del Sol morning into one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles.

Your glasses are the essential part of the experience.
The Sun can injure your eyes before and after totality even when it looks dim. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for direct solar viewing.
A limited complimentary supply
We will have a limited number of complimentary solar viewers available to Kingfisher guests while stocks last. Please bring compliant backup viewers, as availability is not guaranteed.
ISO 12312-2:2015 compliant
We will source viewers that conform to the international standard for filters intended for direct observation of the Sun and verify the supplier’s compliance evidence.
- Inspect viewers before use and do not use them if scratched, torn or damaged.
- Wear them throughout every partial phase; remove them only during complete totality.
- Put them back on immediately when any bright part of the Sun reappears.
- Never use eclipse glasses with binoculars, telescopes or cameras; optical equipment needs its own front-mounted solar filter.

Will the eclipse be total at Benal Beach?
Yes. Spain’s Instituto Geográfico Nacional places Benalmádena inside the path of totality. Totality is calculated from 10:47:17 to 10:50:08 CEST, with maximum eclipse at 10:48:42.
When should I arrive?
The partial eclipse begins at 09:41:47. Plan to be in your chosen viewing place well before then, with your glasses checked and ready. The four-night booking link suggests arrival on 30 July and departure on 3 August.
Will eclipse glasses be available?
We will offer a limited number of complimentary solar viewers to Kingfisher guests while stocks last. Availability is not guaranteed, so we recommend bringing your own ISO 12312-2:2015-compliant viewers as a backup.
Can I watch from my apartment terrace?
A terrace with a clear eastern view may be a wonderful option, although outlooks and nearby obstructions vary. The beach and promenade are directly across the road and offer an easy alternative.
Can I change the suggested dates?
Yes. The booking button opens a four-night search from 30 July to 3 August 2027. You can adjust the dates, guest numbers and apartment choice in the booking engine, subject to the eclipse-period minimum stay and live availability.
